PSA Peugeot Citroen might set up operations in Belarus

(BelTA) – PSA Peugeot Citroen might start manufacturing cars in Belarus, Dmitry Klevzhits, Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization (NAIP) of Belarus, has told reporters on 18 June, BelTA has learnt.

“You have probably heard that PSA Peugeot Citroen decided to end car production at Moscow’s ZIL and might relocate its operations to Belarus,” Dmitry Klevzhits said. The NAIP is going to invest its best efforts to convince the company to come to Belarus.

Dmitry Klevzhits emphasized the importance of the joint project with General Motors that has recently announced its decision to start operations in Belarus. “A world giant is coming here; it has long-term plans to manufacture cars in Belarus. The company is going to assemble 7,000 cars per year after reaching its designed capacity,” Dmitry Klevzhits noted. In his words, this company will expand its operations in Belarus using new technologies. This is a landmark investment event for Belarus. The assembly factory will be located on the premises of the joint venture Unison in the village of Abchak near Minsk.
