Swedish companies are interested in cooperation with Belarus

Swedish enterprises are interested in the cooperation with their Belarusian partners, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Belarus Stephan Ericsson told a press conference in Minsk on June 1. 

In his words, in April the Swedish Trade Council helped arrange a trip to for a group of Swedish businessmen. “I cannot say what exactly was signed and what it will result in, but meetings should necessarily be held to achieve a positive result. There are many companies that find partners in themselves. They are cooperating now and would like this partnership to go on,” he said.

Stephan Ericsson noted that over the first three months 2009, the Swedish export to soared 41%, though the Swedish import from dropped 46%. However, the Ambassador believes that “these figures do not reflect any trends, as a three-month period is a too short time for general assessments.” 

In 2008, the Belarusian export to made up $96.5 million, up 36.2% from 2007. The major exports included tyres, potassium fertilizers, and textile products. ’ major imports from were communication equipment, cars, paper.
