Belarusian companies may help rebuild Ecuador after earthquake

Ecuador is considering the possibility of hiring Belarusian companies to help rebuild earthquake-hit areas. The idea was discussed as Belarusian Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Dmitry Semenkevich met with Minister Coordinator of Internal and External Security Policy of Ecuador Cesar Navas Vera, BelTA has learned. During the meeting Cesar Navas Vera noted that Ecuador is rebuilding after the earthquake that hit the country on 16 April 2016. “We are considering the participation of various countries in the restoration process and the Belarusian experience looks very interesting to us,” he said. During the meeting it was noted that thanks to the top-notch implementation of large-scale projects abroad Belarusian construction companies have already gained a reputation as reliable partners. Cesar Navas Vera pointed out that Ecuador is primarily interested in construction in rural areas since the lack of the necessary infrastructure makes construction projects difficult in these regions. The Belarusian side suggested how these peculiarities can be taken into account by means of assembly-based construction. “The approach will allow simplifying the construction process and reducing the financial burden,” said Dmitry Semenkevich. The sides agreed that in the near future Ecuador will submit technical requirements and Belarusian specialists will come up with conceptual proposals for building homes in the earthquake-hit areas of Ecuador.
