Belarus, China researchers to set up metallurgy technology center

Scientists of Belarus and China plan to open a joint R&D center for the finishing of metal products in Minsk, BelTA learned from Marina Tsives, Head of the Belarusian center for R&D cooperation with China provinces of the BNTU scientific and technological park Polytechnic.

Terms of the projects were discussed at the China Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair that took place in June.

BelTA has been told the Belarusian National Technical University and the Harbin Polytechnic University were considering signing an agreement to set up a joint R&D center for the finishing of metal products in the Polytechnic park. The scientists are also discussing the possibility of setting up a joint enterprise in China to make equipment for electrolyte and plasma treatment of metal goods.

Over the last several years specialists of the Belarusian and Chinese universities have been researching electrolyte and plasma treatment of metal goods. The equipment made as part of the project is now used by enterprises in four provinces of China. “Our partners have undertaken to distribute the technology and supply equipment to Belarusian and Chinese companies,” remarked Marina Tsives. “The sides have decided to carry out joint projects to improve technological processes, modernize equipment and adapt it to manufacturing conditions”.

The Polytechnic scientific and technological park of the Belarusian National Technical University was founded in 1992. The enterprise develops, introduces and batch produces new technologies, materials, and equipment types. Apart from that, it assists small innovation enterprises in promoting their products. The park has been used to set up centers for R&D cooperation with Venezuelan, Kazakh, and Syrian scientists. The park also has a Belarusian center for R&D cooperation with China provinces.
