Belarus’ dairy exports to Russia run as scheduled

Belarusian dairy products are supplied to Russia in accordance with the plan that Belarus and Russia agreed on this year, said Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus Vasily Kazakevich at the exhibition Belagro 2012, BelTA learnt.

“The statements by the National Dairy Producers Union (Soyuzmoloko) alleging that Belarus uses dumping prices are groundless,” the Deputy Minister noted. Belarus-Russia dairy supplies are determined annually in accordance with the demand and supply projections, he said. According to Vasily Kazakevich, Belarus is to supply Russia with about 4 million tonnes of dairy products this year.

Soyuzmoloko previously suggested suspending imports of whole cream milk powder, skimmed milk powder, whey powder and butter with a fat content of 72.5% and 82.5% from Belarus for the period from 4 July till 1 December 2012 “in order to stabilize the prices for the aforementioned products on the Russian market and stop dumping on the part of Belarusian producers.”

The Russian National Dairy Producers Union also suggested imposing such sanctions against similar dairy products from other countries.

The Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry has nto received any notification from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia about possible temporary suspension of dairy imports, Vasily Kazakevich emphasized.

Belagro 2012 is held from 5 to 10 June. The exhibition is organized by MinskExpo with the support from and direct participation of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Industry Ministry and the National Academy of Science of Belarus. Taking part in the exhibition this year are over 300 companies from 18 countries.
