Minsk City Technology Park in Baltic Sea innovative business incubators project

The Minsk City Technology Park is taking part in the project to create a chain of innovative business incubators in the Baltic Sea region, the park’s director Vladimir Davidovich told a press conference on 17 May.

The chain of business incubators, technology parks is located in Poland, Belarus, Russia, Sweden, Norway, and Germany. Participants are expected to standardize approaches to doing business. In particular, similar services will be provided for residents, networks for residents to communicate with each other will be created. “Our businessmen will be able to communicate with businessmen, for instance, in Sweden, Norway, Russia and will be able to use the infrastructure of partners,” explained the Director of the Minsk City Technology Park.

The Minsk City Technology Park also plans to offer foreign trade services to resident companies. Vladimir Davidovich said the park administration has contacts with investment groups of Russia, Germany. “Everyone is interested in projects because there is spare money in the world while projects are in short supply. Technology parks can kind of sieve through projects to choose the best ones for potential resident companies,” said the executive.

Now the Minsk City Technology Park is holding a contest to choose up to 15 potential innovation-active resident companies. The first part of the contest will end by 1 June. The contest will be held regularly when more space in the technology park is available. The park plans to attract up to 100 residents.

The limited liability company Minsk City Technology Park was created in late 2011 to provide support to Minsk companies in implementing innovative projects in the form of preferences (lease of premises, manufacturing equipment, tax preferences, organizational support for innovative projects). The technology park is also supposed to create favorable conditions for doing high-tech business and to provide support to beginner innovative companies.

The Minsk City Technology Park has been founded by the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian Innovation Fund, and the Minsk City Executive Committee (via a municipal enterprise).

Initially the technology park will occupy a 5.5 hectare land plot at 187 Soltysa Street, with the total area of buildings and premises close to 40,000 m2. The technology park can also rent other premises to let them to residents.
