CSTO presidents fail to agree on some matters on agenda

Presidents of the CSTO member states have failed to agree on some of the matters put on the agenda of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council that took place in Moscow on 20 December. President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev made the statement before an extended participation session of the Council began, BelTA has learned.

“We have reached an agreement on some things and we have not on others. It is a natural process. It means negotiations will continue,” said Dmitry Medvedev.

The President of Russia said that the heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member nations had discussed the fulfillment of the decisions that had been made earlier and had discussed ways to improve the CSTO effectiveness at the restricted participation session.

President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev thanked Alexander Lukashenko for his effective and persistent work as the Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who took over the CSTO chairmanship from Alexander Lukashenko, thanked the Belarusian head of state for his work.
