The State Committee of Science and Technology (SCST) of Belarus and China’s Huawei Technologies are set to sign a memorandum of sci-tech cooperation on 19 September, SCST Chair Igor Voitov told reporters, BelTA has learnt.

The parties will jointly develop cutting-edge innovative solutions for electronic infrastructure to be used in Belarus. The joint projects will help considerably reduce IT infrastructure development and maintenance costs. Huawei Technologies has carried out similar projects in China and the Customs Union. The company’s expertise and knowledge will be of great use in Belarus.

The Chinese company will provide assistance in developing and upgrading the IT infrastructure for the regional computer network in science and education. The cooperation agreements envisage the development, localization and testing of telecommunication software, including cloud computing solutions, applications for Electronic Healthcare and earth remote sensing data processing. “We will focus primarily on data transmission systems and might consider designing systems that will cheapen the so-called cloud computing,” Igor Voitov said. In the next two weeks, Belarus will host joint seminars. A joint research laboratory might be established in the future.
