Food export in Belarus will reach $3 billion in 2010 for the first time in its history, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said as he met with the Polotsk-Steklovolokno personnel on 12 November.

“We have become an export-oriented state, selling products to 40 countries,” the Premier said.

Such high results have been possible due to the implementation of the rural revival program adopted in 2005. The program was quite ambitious, but it has been almost fulfilled, Sergei Sidorsky said. “In 2005 there were envisaged Br17 trillion of investment in the agriculture. There have been invested three times as much to secure food safety of the country,” the Prime Minister said. Belarus produces enough food products for the domestic market and export supplies, Sergei Sidorsky added.
