Belarus expects the Chinese Commerce Ministry to provide more active aid in finding partners for implementing projects in Belarus, said Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Igor Voitov as he met with a deputy general manager of the Export-Import Bank of China.

The press service of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus quoted Igor Voitov as saying that Belarus needs more active aid of China’s Commerce Ministry in finding partners for implementing projects in various branches of the national economy. “We are open to many projects and are interested in their implementation but we need organizational and technical aid,” said Igor Voitov.

Working groups have been sent by Belarusian government agencies to China to prepare concrete proposals for using Chinese loans.

The number of promising avenues of cooperation includes the production of liquid crystal displays, computers, modernization of the machine tool industry, high-precision iron casting, production of body scanners, development of the pharmaceutical industry, development and technologies for extracting mineral resources, wind energy, laser technologies, development of medical equipment production, nanotechnologies and nanomaterials.

Igor Voitov touched upon the possibility of the Export-Import Bank of China’s participation in financing venture projects in Belarus.

In turn, the representative of the Export-Import Bank of China said the bank is ready to provide assistance. In his words, the bank operates directly under the guidance of the Chinese government. “We have close relations not only with the Commerce Ministry but many leading enterprises. The areas you have voiced are quite well-developed in China and it is recognized across the globe. We can provide the necessary aid not only in finding partners but also as financial support for these projects,” said the representative of the Export-Import Bank of China.

The sides agreed to maintain contacts for the sake of stepping up the bilateral cooperation.
