Belarus, Italy foreign ministers discuss Belarus-EU cooperation

MINSK, February 25 (BelTA) - A large number of issues concerning the bilateral cooperation, including the trade and economic component, as well as Belarus-EU cooperation, has been discussed by Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov and Italy Foreign Minister Franco Frattini. The meeting took place as part of Sergei Martynov’s official visit to Italy. The visit is supposed to end on February 25, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA. The Belarusian Foreign Minister met with the leadership of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, other organisations in charge of promoting foreign trade as well as Italian Mediobanca, which had opened a credit line for Belarus earlier. The discussions focused on invigorating the investment cooperation, the financing of important bilateral projects. An agreement to organise visits of the leadership of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and the Italian Banking Association as well as a delegation of business circles to Belarus was reached. On February 25 Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov is supposed to meet with Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State of Vatican, and Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States of the Vatican State Secretariat.
