Belarus calls for a prompt peaceful settlement of the situation in Kyrgyzstan, with the use of only peaceful means based on an equal dialogue and the interests of the sides taken into account, Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, told media as he commented on a crisis situation in Kyrgyzstan.

“The Belarusian side is concerned over an escalating ethnic conflict in Kyrgyzstan, which has already left tens of the killed and hundreds of the injured. Belarus expresses deep condolences over the victims of the clashes and address the sides of the conflict to exercise restraint, cease the violence that can only exacerbate the present situation and lead to new irretrievable losses and drastic consequences for Kyrgyzstan and the region,” Andrei Savinykh stated.

It is vital to exclude the violation of the rights and freedoms of the national minorities living in Kyrgyzstan as well as the interests of the total population of the country, Andrei Savinykh said.
