President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will meet a delegation of the Chelyabinsk oblast of the Russian Federation on 15 December. The delegation is led by Piotr Sumin, Governor of the Chelyabinsk oblast, it was learnt from the presidential press service.

The sides are set to coordinate the further interaction, especially in the field of manufacturing cooperation.

The delegation is also set to meet with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky, take part in a session of the working group on cooperation and visit a number of Belarusian companies.

The sides are going to sign a protocol on trade and economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation for 2010-2011.

In January-October 2009, the bilateral trade between Belarus and the Chelyabinsk oblast made up $142.3 million. Belarus had a deficit in the trade with the Chelyabinsk oblast. Belarus’ major exports were: refrigerators, vehicle spare parts, trucks, tyres, road machinery, and electric equipment. Belarus imported iron, ground means of transportation, macaroni products, etc.
