In December-January Belarusian Autoworks (BelAZ) is ready to deliver 150 heavy-duty dump trucks worth $22 million to Tajikistan, BelAZ Director General Piotr Parkhomchik told President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov on 26 November.

According to Piotr Parkhomchik, Tajikistan is a strategic partner of Belarusian Autoworks. Despite the crisis, the supplies of dump trucks to this country remained at the level of 2007-2008. The enterprise takes part in almost all the projects to construct hydraulic engineering structures in Tajikistan. Belarusian machines are used at Sangtuda and Rogun hydroelectric power plants.

Emomali Rahmon stated that Tajikistan has been implementing a set of large projects in hydro-power engineering and gold mining which requires the relevant equipment. Emomali Rahmon asked for a pre-term delivery of the equipment in view of the Rogun hydropower station closure on 20 January 2010. Additional 400 mine trucks can be supplied within the next two years.

“We are interested in purchasing Belarusian equipment on direct contracts, without mediators, at the mutually beneficial prices,” Emomali Rahmon said.

Tajikistan has so far imported 224 Belarusian mine trucks with the total carrying capacity of 30 tonnes and 13 mine trucks with 42-45 tonnage. Belarus exported 75 mine trucks to Tajikistan in 2007 and 63 vehicles – 2008.

The President of Tajikistan was given a guided tour of the plant. The high guest also attended an exhibition of Belarusian equipment (MAZ, BelAZ, MTZ and Amkodor) which was organized specially for his visit.

Belarusian Autoworks was founded in September 1948. The BelAZ product line includes open-pit dump trucks, front end wheel loaders and bulldozers, recovery trucks, carrier vehicles for underground works, heavy-load carriers for metallurgical plants and other production machines. BelAZ occupies one-third of the global market of dump trucks and is one of the top ten mining equipment producers in the world, such as Komatsu-Dresser, Euclid-Hitachi, Caterpillar, Liebherr, Terex, Kress.
