Venezuelan companies are interested in getting oil processed by Belarusian oil refineries, said Barinder Dhami, Vice President of the Venezuelan company Venro Energy, at an international conference in Minsk on 16 November.

Barinder Dhami remarked that Venezuela has major oil reserves and plans to raise the production using modern technologies. By 2014 the country will increase the output up to 5 million barrels a day. “It opens up very good prospects for the participation of Belarusian and Russian colleagues. We are open to new cooperation, commercial relations, in particular, contracts for oil processing at Belarusian refineries,” said the Venro Energy Vice President.

The plans to build up Venezuela’s oil output envisage using highly effective drilling and other equipment. There are plans to spend $6-7 billion on these goals in 2010-2013. Belarusian companies have extensive extraction and drilling experience that Venezuela could use. The range of cooperation prospects is very extensive, said Barinder Dhami. Venezuela President Hugo Chavez declared that Belarusian and Russian companies would be preferred over other ones that intend to operate on the Venezuelan market, he reminded.
