News Belarus-Sweden agreement on international motor transportation enacted
The Belarusian-Swedish intergovernmental agreement on international motor transportation has come into force, it was learnt from the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The document regulates the international motor transportation of goods and passengers between the two countries, including two-way transportation and transit via the territory of Belarus and Sweden. The agreement is aimed to boost export of Belarus’ motor transportation services. “The agreement specifies exemption from taxes and other payments collected for the operation and possession of transport vehicles; it establishes licensing system in transportation and specifies the categories of transportation where permits are not required; it regulates the transit of heavy and large-sized vehicles,” the Ministry of Transport and Communications said. “With a view to protecting the domestic market of transportation services, cabotage transportation is prohibited.” The Belarusian-Swedish intergovernmental agreement on international motor transportation of passengers and goods was ratified in Belarus on 6 July 2009.
