A transport and logistics complex will be built near the national airport Minsk within the next five years, Belarusian Transport and Communication Minister Ivan Shcherbo told media on 4 November.

The facility will occupy 120 hectares. Around $300 million will be invested in the project. The Belgian company AOI NV (Antwerpse Ontwikkelings en Investeringsmaatschappij NV) is the investor. There are plans to build a multimodal transport and logistics center able to handle cargoes delivered by all kinds of transport (by air, by rail, and by road). Railway tracks, a motorway, and a second runway for aircraft will be built there.

At present project operations for five transport and logistics facilities are underway in Belarus, with investors chosen already. All in all, the program for developing Belarus’ logistics infrastructure till 2015 envisages building 24 transport and logistics centers. The transport and logistics complex Prilesie is another major project. It will be built by the Iranian company Kayson in the Minsk oblast.
