Ukraine and Belarus intend to harmonize the export of electric power, First Vice-Premier of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov told reporters following the session of the Belarusian-Ukrainian mixed intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

According to Alexander Turchinov, the Ukrainian side is keen on developing cooperation with Belarus in power engineering. In 2009 the supplies of Ukrainian electric energy to Belarus were resumed. “I hope that next year the export will keep growing,” the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine said. He is convinced that the sides “will be able to harmonize certain activities concerning the export of electric energy.”

Alexander Turchinov noted that upon the initiative of the Belarusian side, the two countries considered implementing joint trans-national projects in power engineering, transport infrastructure and other areas. These intentions were put down on the final protocol of the session of the commission.
