Horizont and Philips are studying cooperation prospects, head of the Philips-Belorussiya company Alexander Samets told reporters.

The two companies have not established cooperation on a regular basis. “We hold occasional consultations,” Alexander Samets said. He explained that Horizont suggests several cooperation options: delivery of components and the assembling of Philips TV sets at the Belarusian enterprise, production of some of components for Philips TV sets by Horizont or the joint creation of a conceptual TV set for the Belarusian market. “I think that the development of our own TV set with an optimal price-quality ratio will be the best option. Horizont has advanced engineering base and scientific know-how,” Alexander Samets said.

Philips and Brest Electric Bulb Plant are successfully implementing a pilot project to produce energy-efficient lamps using the technology of General Electric and Philips.

On 1 October 2008, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Philips Lumileds Lighting signed a memorandum of understanding to implement a project to produce LED lamps in Belarus.

Reorganized in December 2002, Horizont is the CIS largest producer of TV sets and radio electronics. The company’s output provides over 50 models and modifications of tube and LCD TV sets and monitors, DVD-players, home theater systems, space and cable television systems and household appliances.
