Minsk companies plans to hold a fair in Kiev or some other Ukrainian city in October-November 2009, Denis Yeremenko, Head of the Foreign Trade Office of the Economy Committee of Minsk City Hall, told a press conference on 2 September.

According to Denis Yeremenko, the expo, which has been held this year for the first time in 18 years, has attracted much attention. Light and food industry companies as well as Atlant and Horizont took part in it. In one day all the showcased products were bought.

“We regularly organize fairs abroad, mainly in provinces of Russia. Now we plan to hold fairs in Ukraine. We are also in negotiations with Latvian partners for the sake of arranging a joint economic forum in October,” remarked Denis Yeremenko.

Speaking about foreign trade results in January-August 2009, he informed that there are problems with promoting products abroad and therefore last year’s performance has not been reached. Only municipal companies demonstrate a 10% increase in comparison with the same period of last year. In particular, Belkommunmash is exploring new markets, participating in tenders in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Italy and so on.

All in all, Minsk trades with over 150 countries. The main trade partners are Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Hungary, Pakistan and the UK.
