Armenia to assemble Belarus tractors

An enterprise assembling Belarus tractors will be set up in Armenia. The relevant protocol of intent was signed by representatives of a Belarusian delegation and the Vanadzor-based Chinvan plant (the former Electron) in Armenia on 12 August, it was learnt from the Belarusian Embassy in Yerevan.

According to the diplomatic mission, the annual demand for these tractors in Armenia is 50-60 units. At the first stage, the assembling enterprise is to manufacture about 50 machines, including small and medium-sized tractors with all the necessary equipment. These machines have a wide range of applications: besides agriculture, they can be used in the municipal services.

In the future, the tractors assembled in Armenia might be exported to the neighbouring countries, as the Armenian company will obtain an exclusive right and operating license for these machines.

Belarus will provide the Armenian company with components, while the assembly production and maintenance will be carried out at the Chinvan plant.

According to the Armenian Economy Ministry, Belarus tractors are well-known on the Armenian agricultural market and their quality rivals that of European farm machines. The new products will be competitive enough as the price for them will be based on the cost of the components.

The first batch of the products consisting of four tractors of different modifications will be presented at Armenia-expo-2009 exhibition that will be held in Yerevan on 4-6 September 2009.

Under the preliminary agreement, VTB Bank (Armenia) will provide the funding for this transaction.
