An exhibition/fair of Belarusian goods will be held in the south-eastern district of Moscow on 27-31 July, it was learnt from the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

According to the preliminary information, more than 12 companies will take part in the event. These will be mainly the producers of the light and food industries. The main goal of the fair is to increase exports, to earn hard currency revenues.

Moscow is the most important trading and economic partner of the Minsk oblast, said the Minsk office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 2008 the trade between the Minsk oblast and Moscow was up 7.2% to $400 million. Exports increased by 11.8% over 2007. The Minsk oblast had a surplus of $193.8 million. 

Belarus advances its products to the market of the Russian capital under direct contracts and also via the export promotion centres (BelAZ, Belaruskali, Molodechno-based Elekrtomodul, Slutsk sugar refinery, Gorodeya sugar refinery, Liubansky trading house, Minskoblprodukt). There is a specialist store, Molodehcnomebel, in the south-eastern district of Moscow. More than 100 fairs were held in that district of Moscow in 2008. 

Major exports were meat and dairy products, eggs, electrical equipment, truck and tractor component parts, furniture, knitwear, medicines and others. Major imports were monofilaments, special-purpose vehicles, tea, footwear and other products. 

The exhibition/fair is organized by the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
