The share of shipped innovative products accounted for 17.1% of Belarus’ total factory output in January-October 2011, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.

In January-September, the share was 16.8%, in H1 - 13.3%, in Q1 -11.8%. In 2011 this share is projected at 12-13%. Thus, the ten-month results show that this figure exceeds the annual target.

The highest share of shipped innovative products in January-October was posted by manufacturers of vehicles and equipment - 44.1% (well above the forecast of 36-39%). These manufactures are part of the Industry Ministry. The share of innovative products in this industry stood at 44.9% in January-September, 44.2% in H1, and 42.4% in Q1.

The high share of innovative products (37.7% against 22-26% target) in January-October was posted by the manufacturers of machinery and equipment, 22.3% (22-24%)by the sector of electrical equipment, electronics and optics, 18.9% (19-20.5%)by the steel industry and manufacturers of fabricated metal products.

The pharmaceutical industry had this share at 16.6% against the annual forecast of 9-10%, while the producers of non-metallic mineral commodities (the Construction and Architecture Ministry) showed 15% (12-13%).

According to the National Statistics Committee, the share of innovative products in the total volume of factory shipments is calculated as the ratio of innovative products shipped to the volume of products shipped, multiplied by 100. Data is presented in the standard industrial classification of economic activities.
