The thirteenth ART FORUM BERLIN - The International Fair for Contemporary Art - will take place at the Berlin Exhibi-tion Grounds from 3 to 6 October 2008. Organized by Messe Berlin GmbH in cooperation with its international Galler-ies’ Advisory Board, ART FORUM BERLIN has established itself as one of the most innovative world-class showcase for contemporary art.

Selected by an international jury, over 120 galleries from more than 25 countries will present the works of established artists and young, cutting-edge positions alike. The spacious, historically protected Ermisch Halls 18-20, offer the galleries ideal exhibiting conditions and an opportunity to present a high impact show. With its compact and precise setting, ART FORUM BERLIN is a unique platform for trading and communicating contemporary art.

ART FORUM BERLIN features art works ranging from paintings, sculptures and installations, to video and photography, works on paper, editions and multimedia. Collectors, visitors and art lovers from around the world will find an over-view of the latest and upcoming trends. In 2007, ART FORUM BERLIN attracted 44,000 art enthusiasts and more than 1,800 journalists, renowned collectors, museum directors and curators from Germany and abroad

Since 2004, ART FORUM BERLIN also features a special curated exhibition on 2,000 m². Following Zdenek Felix, Su-sanne Titz, Friederike Nymphius and Ami Barak, Hans-Jürgen Hafner was nominated this year’s curator. His show „Difference, what difference?“ intends to reflect the “meaning” and “value” of art within the context of the seemingly conflicting realms of market and discourse.

ART FORUM BERLIN offers exhibitors and visitors excellent opportunities to experience contemporary art. The lofty exhibition halls with their 15 m ceilings and natural daylight, along with the charming Palais am Funkturm built in the 1950s, provide an ideal setting for experimental gallery stands and the fair’s characteristical artists’ conceived lounges. With its cafés, restaurants, the library and the talk lounge, the fair provides an ideal platform for discussions, meetings and performances in an atmosphere that lends itself to the pure enjoyment of art.

Twice each day, the ART FORUM BERLIN Talks offer visitors an opportunity to take part in discussions with distin-guished international guest speakers focusing on significant issues in contemporary art and the international art scene.
Each year during ART FORUM BERLIN, Berlin's museums and cultural institutions present an outstanding framework of special events, receptions and exhibitions. Joint projects with theatres and galleries enhance the spectrum of artistic produc-tions and transform Berlin into a unique art centre.
