MAZ, BelAZ assembly plants to be set up in Vietnam
Joint ventures to assembly facilities Belarusian MAZ and BelAZ trucks will be set up in Vietnam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Dang Huy Tran told a press conference on 31 August.
According to the Ambassador, Belarus and Vietnam are showing a growing tendency in setting up joint ventures. Several agreements on setting up joint ventures were reached during an intergovernmental session on cooperation in Hanoi in April 2009. In particular, a joint venture will be set up by MAZ and the Vietnamese automobile manufacturer Vinamotor. “The project envisages joint production of MAZ component parts as well as trucks in Vietnam,” the diplomat said.
The two states also signed a plan of BelAZ production and assembly in Vietnam.
Prospects of oil as well as other mineral resources production in Vietnam were considered during the intergovernmental session. The two sides also discussed the possibilities of setting up joint ventures in the production of foodstuffs, motorcycles and bicycles.
