The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) has awarded the Belarusian Steel Works the top score of five stars in its “Recognised for Excellence” award, it was learnt from Elena Peretyagina, director for quality of the company.

“It is rather high rating of recognition given by European experts of management system to the Belarusian Steel Works taking into consideration the fact that the company is participating in the contest for the first time,” Elena Peretyagina noted. 

The Belarusian Steel Works has been participating in the business marathon based on the EFQM business excellence model for two years. This prestigious award means Belarusian Steel Works has been recognised as an organisation that uses good practice in all areas of its operations. The first stage of the marathon is the “recognition for excellence in the country”. The Belarusian Steel Works has a lot of victories in the field of quality. The company is the winner of the national contests for Belarusian Government Quality Award in 2001, 2004 and in 2007. During these years, the company was also awarded Industry Ministry’s Quality Award. 

The second stage of the marathon is the “recognition for excellence in Europe ”. In 2007, the Belarusian Steel Works won the contest for the CIS Products and Services Quality Award. In 2008, the company won the contest among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. 

Companies and famous world brands including BOSCH, Siemens and others take part in this prestigious contest. 

According to the integral assessment of the company, which was made by an expert team, the EFQM jury panel noted that the Belarusian Steel Works has not reached finalist’s level so far but the earned points allowed it to present the Belarusian company with 5 stars recognition for business excellence award. 

Belarusian Steel Works was founded in 1984. It is an export-oriented company sending its products to more than 50 geographies. Export supplies account for over 80% of the total output. The company produces cast sections, rolled sections, profiled iron, reinforcing bars, metal cord, brass-plated wire for high-pressure hoses and other types of wire.
