Belarus, India negotiate prices for potash fertilizers

Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) continues negotiations with on potash fertilizers price, BPC spokesman Filipp Gritskov told. 

He denied the information that Belarusian Potash Company has allegedly concluded with IPL, India’s largest importer, to supply potash fertilizers at $460 per 1 tonne. “The negotiations between BPC and IPL are still underway. The company will inform on the results as soon as the final agreements are reached”, Filipp Gritskov noted. 

As it was reported earlier, the Russian company Silvinit cut down the prices on its fertilizers for the Indian market. The International Potash Company (the trader of Silvinit) concluded a contract to supply 850,000 tonnes of fertilizers to at the price of $460 per 1 tonne until March 2010. In 2008 the price for was $625 per 1 tonne. 

Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) is the exclusive supplier of potash fertilizers produced by the production association Belaruskalii (Soligorsk) and Russia’s Uralkali ( Berezniki ) to foreign markets. Belarusian Potash Company was set up in 2005. The shareholders are Uralkali (50%), Belaruskali (45%) and Belarusian Railways (5%). Belarusian Potash Company accounts for over a third of the world market of potash fertilisers. Its products are exported to Africa, Europe, India, China, the USA, the Pacific region, Central and South Americas . The company has a well-developed distribution network and representative offices in Beijing (China), New Delhi (India), Singapore, San Paulo (Brazil) and Chicago (USA).
