MTZ export to Ukraine up by 58% in January-April

(BelTA) – In January-April 2013 Minsk Tractor Works has exported over 2,300 tractors to Ukraine, up by 58% compared to the same period last year, BelTA learnt from MTZ.

“We came up with a special pricing strategy for this market that envisages that the amount of a discount depends on the number of tractors purchased. The strategy has worked and we exported 2,326 Belarus tractors to Ukraine in January-April 2013,” the press service informed.

The export of tractors to other CIS member states rose, too. The sales in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan doubled. A company has been set up in Uzbekistan to sell Belarusian farm machinery on this market and in other countries, which allowed resolving the currency conversion issue. Cooperation with Kazakh partners has been gaining momentum. The export to Moldova has expanded by 9%.

Thus, the company’s sales to the CIS member states have been growing (if the Russian Federation is not included). Over the four months this year the export to the Commonwealth (Russia is not included) has expanded by 5% compared to the same period a year before.

One of the major short-term goals of MTZ is to sell energy-efficient tractors with the capacity of over 200 horsepower. The company is working to promote tractors with the capacity of 355 horsepower, in particular, to the markets of the Russian Federation and other CIS member states where this segment has some growth capacities. 109 Belarus-2022 and 248 Belarus-3022/3522 energy efficient tractors were sold in January-April 2013, up by 20% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Minsk Tractor Works was founded in 1946. Now it is affiliated with the Industry Ministry. MTZ produces more than 60 models and modifications of tractors and machines in over 100 versions and configurations for all climatic and operational conditions. It also offers machinery for the forestry industry, municipal services and mining. Over a number of years, the factory has held 8-10% of the global market of wheeled tractors.
