Salary in Belarus' industrial sector to reach $500 in December

The situation in Belarus' industrial sector allows for securing the average salary of $500, or Br1000, in December 2017, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said in an interview to ONT TV Channel, BelTA informs. The situation in the industry looks somewhat better than in the economy in general, with the growth reaching 6% in January-October. “The situation is paradoxical: there are more orders than we can do. Sometimes there is not enough working capital, but I am happy with a clear policy of the National Bank,” said Vladimir Semashko. “When the refinancing rate falls, the availability of funds grows. I am confident that the goals for this five-year period, 2016-2020, are attainable. We will be able to secure the average salary of $500 in the sector in December. I think this figure will be reached across the whole economic sector,” he added. “Today, our main problem is working capital. For example, today the system of the Industry Ministry lacks about $1 billion of working capital in order to adequately fulfill the existing orders,” said Vladimir Semashko.
