Belarus, Moldova to step up cooperation in agriculture

Belarus and Moldova will expand their cooperation in agriculture in order to develop mutually beneficial trade and economic relations, strengthen ties in science and business, and exchange best practices in the application of state-of-the-art agricultural technologies. The decision is reflected in the protocol of the first meeting of the Belarus-Moldova working group on cooperation in agriculture, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova. The document was inked by Ion Parea, Moldovan Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Vladimir Grakun, Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister. The protocol sets out specific steps to be taken jointly by Belarus and Moldova in almost all areas of agriculture to increase the export and import volumes, and exchange experience and best practices. The countries will implement promising joint projects in seed growing, plant breeding, animal breeding, land development and irrigation, application of energy-saving technologies in agriculture, cooperation in agricultural education, and other areas. For instance, Belarus and Moldova have plans to continue their cooperation in the implementation of joint innovative projects in seed breeding and cultivation of agricultural varieties of corn, medick, soya and sunflower, embryo transfer for pedigree cattle, design and equipment of dairy farms, upgrade of agricultural machinery and equipment, irrigation and land development.
