Export to Georgia fueled by Brest-Batumi twin city relations
In 2015 enterprises based in Brest increased export to Georgia by 25% in comparison with 2014, BelTA learned from Valery Lapteikin, First Deputy Chairman of the Brest City Executive Committee, on 10 February. The increase in export is attributed to the fact that in April 2015 Brest and Batumi signed a memorandum on twin city relations. This is why export to Georgia rose by $300,000 to $1.2 million. In particular, products made by Inco-Food and Santa Bremor are now traded on the Georgian market. Valery Lapteikin said: “Our products enjoy solid demand. Georgian customers are satisfied with the value for money ratio. At present we primarily export meat products and woodworking industry products. There are vast opportunities for cooperation in tourism. I am confident that the visit of the Georgian parliament delegation to Brest will help establish new contacts.” A delegation of the Georgian parliament is in Brest on a two-day visit. The delegation is led by Alexander Kantaria, First Deputy Chairman of the Education, Science, and Culture Committee of the Georgian parliament. During the meeting with representatives of the Brest Oblast administration the sides discussed ways to bolster cooperation between regions of the two countries. The delegation also visited the companies Santa Bremor and Savushkin Product as well as Brest Fortress.
