Belarusian government unveils key export growth targets for 2016
The Belarusian government has unveiled the key export growth targets for 2016. The targets are laid down in Resolution No.107 of the Council of Ministers of 8 February 2016, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government. The document sets out the export growth targets (net of oil, oil products, and nitrogen fertilizers) to be overseen by the officials tasked with promoting exports to specific countries in line with Resolution No.1235 of the Council of Ministers of 23 December 2014 “Concerning the efforts to boost and diversify the export of goods and services”. The exports to Qatar and Canada are expected to grow the highest, by 20%. Besides, Belarus seeks to bolster exports to Ecuador by 11%, South Africa by 9%, and Syria by 8%. As for the exports to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, the growth targets are as follows: 8% for Kyrgyzstan, 5% for Armenia, 4% for Russia, and 2% for Kazakhstan. With regard to Europe, Belarus expects the highest export growth on the markets of Belgium (6%) and Switzerland (5%). The annex to the resolution spells out the 2016 export targets to new promising markets to be overseen by the heads of some ministries and concerns, oblast executive committees, and the Minsk City Hall. The Belarusian Industry Ministry is expected to export at least $215 million worth of goods, the Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Architecture and Construction Ministry $3.2 million each, Belneftekhim Concern (net of oil, oil products, and nitrogen fertilizers) $157 million, and the Minsk City Hall $22.8 million. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the resolution.
