Belarus' import of goods down 26.4% in January-October

In January-October 2015 Belarus reduced the import of goods by 26.4% to $24.7 billion in comparison with the same period last year, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee. In January-October this year Belarus' foreign trade was down by 26.6% over the same period of last year to exceed $47.2 billion. Export was down by 26.9% over January-October of last year, and totaled nearly $22.6 billion. As a result, Belarus had a $2.1 billion deficit in the foreign trade in goods. In the same period last year the deficit was over $2.6 billion. Belarus' trade with the CIS countries amounted to $26.9 billion (a decline of 39.6%). Export to the CIS countries shrank by 35% and totaled $11.8 billion; import dwindled by 24.8% to $15.1 billion. Trade with Russia fell by 27.2% to $22.9 billion. Belarus' trade with non-CIS countries came at $20.369 billion in January-October 2015. This accounted for 77.7% of trade in the same period of last year. Export decreased by 15.5% to $10.8 billion, import plummeted by 28.8% to $9.5 billion. Belarus had a surplus to the tune of $1.3 billion. The trade with the European Union amounted to $12 billion (down by 29.5%). Export was also down by 20.8% to nearly $7.3 billion. Import plunged by 39.7% and amounted to $4.7 billion. Belarus had a surplus of $2.5 billion in January-October 2015.
