Bellegprom’s export up 10.5% in H1 2013

The assortments of textile and garment products made by Belarusian enterprises and sold in the domestic market and abroad are the same, First Deputy Chairman of Bellegprom Group Sergei Misuragin told a press conference dedicated to Bellegprom’s performance in H1, BelTA has learnt.

“Today there is no such differentiation in terms of the assortments for domestic and foreign markets as it was in the Soviet times," he said, noting that now the companies do not adhere to the principle: the best goes abroad. However, Sergei Misuragin admitted that, perhaps, some foreign buyers place special orders with Belarusian enterprises.

Speaking in general about the export of Bellegprom Group, Sergei Misuragin noted that the share of export of light industry goods accounts for about of 51% of the total production. Products are delivered to more than 50 countries, but the main market is Russia. Sergei Misuragin said that Bellegprom is working on diversification of sales markets. Belarusian manufacturers compete with companies from Turkey and former Soviet countries.

According to Sergei Misuragin, the share of exports to Morocco, Ireland, Slovenia, South-East Asia, Latin America, including Brazil, has been very small so far.

Major export items are sewing products, including the goods made for the global brands under tolling schemes, textile haberdashery, and linen products. By the way, Orsha Linen Mill exports 70% of its total output, the said Sergei Misuragin.

According to Bellegprom, in H1 2013 Bellegprom exported goods worth $307.6 million, up 10.5% as against January-June of 2012. Bellegprom posted a foreign trade surplus at $100 million.
