Belarusian-Russian arrangements on building the nuclear power plant in Belarus are being fulfilled, Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Mikhail Mikhadyuk told media on 3 October.

The official was available for comments regarding recent mass media reports concerning the delayed signing of the nuclear power engineering agreement. In his words, “The agreements that we have reached with the Russian Federation lately are being fulfilled on both sides”. “We have prepared a contractual arrangement for signing. Experts have adjusted it,” said Mikhail Mikhadyuk. He added that it is a big contract for Belarus. The contractual arrangement is passing through intrastate procedures. It is supposed to be signed soon.

Speaking about the financing of the project to build the nuclear power plant in Belarus, an agreement on allocating a state export loan for building the nuclear power plant is nearly ready. Once the intrastate procedures in Belarus and Russia are over, “we are convinced it will be signed,” said the Deputy Energy Minister. “The Russian side is intent on preparing such an agreement,” said Mikhail Mikhadyuk. “We are moving towards each other. There are no hindrances from the Russian and Belarusian sides”.
