The Embassy of Belarus in Moldova and the Belarusian Diaspora of Moldova are taking an active part in the Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture that opened in Moldova on 23 May, BelTA has learnt.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Moldova Vyacheslav Osipenko together with the Ambassadors of Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria, heads of the Slavic ethnic and cultural organizations took part in a wreath ceremony at the monument to Prince of Moldavia Stefan cel Mare and the monuments to the outstanding figures of the Slavic Written Language and Culture – Alexander Pushkin, Hristo Botev and Taras Shevchenko.

The diplomats noted that the Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture unite all the Slavs. They stressed that the feast promotes unification of the Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Moldovan cultures.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture in Moldova were the authorities of the country, diplomats accredited in Chisinau, ethnic and cultural organizations. The program of the Days that are to close on 27 May will include concerts, exhibitions, soirees, quizzes, folklore festivals dedicated to the Slavic Written Language and Culture and prepared by Moldovan NGOs. Partaking in the Days will be Moldovan professional and amateur collectives, lyceums, schools, libraries, museums, theaters and cultural centers.

The closing ceremony will take place on 27 May. The Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture in Moldova are held under the aegis of the bureau of interethnic relations and Slavic ethnic and cultural organizations of the country.
