The National Assembly of Belarus is expected to adopt a statement on the Belarusian-Russian relations at a joint session of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives on 7 October, BelTA has learnt.

Economic factors make the basis of the Belarusian-Russian conflict, MP Nikolai Kazak told media before the session. He is convinced that the present situation should be addressed not publicly, but behind the doors with participation of competent people. The two sides need to conduct a weighted dialogue and show respect to each other. The MP believes that mass media should not have gone so deep when covering the relations between Belarus and Russia.

MP Valentina Leonenko shares this opinion. She believes that further escalation of political heat and a split between the two friendly states and nations should not be allowed. She mentioned great responsibility of politicians in this issue, as well as of journalists who, in her words, should keep silence for a while.
