Belarus expects South Korean sunken ship situation to calm down soon
Belarus hopes that the situation around the sunken South Korean ship will calm down soon, said Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, when asked about the Foreign Ministry’s view on the situation around the loss of the South Korean corvette in the Yellow Sea, on 27 May.

“We closely monitor the developments regarding the loss of the South Korean corvette and the publications of results of the investigation into causes of the loss of the ship. We are convinced that the sides should restrain their temper and avoid any steps that would escalate the tensions,” said Andrei Savinykh.

Belarus believes that assessing the situation at the international level it is important to rely on data from every possible source in order to ensure objectiveness and impartiality of conclusions. “Belarus hopes that the situation will soon be settled and normalized and that the process of inter-Korean normalization will continue on the basis of the international law and existing international treaties,” added the Press Secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
