Sidorsky pulls out of Customs Union meeting in St. Petersburg over unsettled issues
Belarus’ Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky has pulled out of the meeting of the prime ministers of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan in St. Petersburg due on 28 May over a range of unsettled issues in the Customs Union, BelTA learned from Alexander Timoshenko, spokesman for the Belarusian Prime Minister.

“The decision to miss the ‘troika’ meeting in St. Petersburg is related to the fact that some issues which are of fundamental importance for Belarus remained unsettled,” he said.

A reminder, a week ago at a meeting in St. Petersburg the prime ministers of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan failed to come to an agreement regarding some sensitive Customs Union issues. The sides agreed to continue consultations during the next two weeks at a level of experts.

“During a week the experts found common ground on some issues, but not all of them. Therefore the Belarusian side considered the participation in the meeting as premature,” Alexander Timoshenko said.
