Belarusian Bellesbumprom's export nearly 50% up in Q1 2017

Enterprises run by the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom exported $87 million worth of merchandise in Q1 2017, 48.6% up from the same period of last year. Most of the enterprises reported an increase in export to foreign markets virtually for all kinds of products, BelTA learned from Bellesbumprom Press Secretary Ruzhena Novitskaya. Particleboard export soared by nearly 150% to $11.6 million. The main exporters were Ivatsevichdrev Pro ($6.9 million) and Belarusian Forestry Company ($4.5 million). Bellesbumprom particleboards were exported to 25 countries. CIS states bought 55.7% of the total volume of particleboards while non-CIS states acquired 44.3%. Fiberboard export rose by more than 150% in Q1 2017 to $14.6 million. The main exporters were Belarusian Forestry Company ($11.3 million) and Borisovski DOK ($2.3 million). Bellesbumprom fiberboards were exported to 22 countries. Non-CIS states bought over 56% of the total. Furniture is a staple export commodity for Bellesbumprom. In January-March Bellesbumprom enterprises exported $24.77 million worth of furniture, 19.4% up from Q1 2016. Belarusian furniture was exported to 30 countries. The main markets were Russia, Kazakhstan, and Poland. The top exporters were Pinskdrev (46.1% of Bellesbumprom's total furniture export), Molodechnomebel, ZOV-LenEvromebel, and Slonimmebel. Plywood export rose by 66.1% to $11.5 million. Belarusian plywood was exported to 38 countries, with the non-CIS share as large as 89.5%. Paper and pasteboard export totaled $10.4 million, 23.6% up from Q1 2016. The main target markets were Russia (50% of the total export of paper and pasteboard), Ukraine (about 18%), and Poland (13.1%). In Q1 2017 Bellesbumprom enterprises also exported more doors, windows, sawn timber, wooden products, packaging materials, wooden fuel, matches, and wood chemistry products.
