(BelTA) - The project to build a sulfate bleached pulp plant in Svetlogorsk should be implemented on time, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said when visiting the construction site.

According to the Prime Minister, preparatory work on the project took too much time, given that the new plant is to come on stream in 2015. The project is implemented with the use of the Chinese loan. The government would like to see the project run on schedule. When talking to representatives of the Chinese Corporation CAMCE, which is the main contractor of the project, Mikhail Myasnikovich asked to speed up the work on the site not to fall behind the schedule.

The Chinese side expressed mutual interest in timely delivery and promised to exert maximum efforts to stay on schedule.

The project to build the sulfate bleached pulp plant is implemented at OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill. The new plant will produce 400,000 tonnes of sulfate bleached pulp per year. The construction contract was signed between OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill and the China Engineering Corporation CAMCE. The new plant will satisfy the domestic demand for high-quality paper pulp and will create the prerequisites for further effective development of the industry.
