Belarusian Potash Company, India sign new contract

Belarusian Potash Company and Indian Potash Ltd (IPL) have signed a contract to supply potassium chloride to India in 2013, BelTA learnt from head of the public relations department of Belarusian Potash Company Filipp Gritskov.

“The potash fertilizers will be sold to India at the price of $427 per 1 tonne on CFR terms. The shipments under the new contract will start in February and will proceed until January 2014,” Filipp Gritskov informed. In line with the contract, Belarusian Potash Company will supply 1 million tonnes of fertilizers to India.

Indian Potash Ltd accounts for 60% of potash fertilizers supplied to the Indian market. IPL is a strategic partner of Belarusian Potash Company. The constructive relations with the Indian company in many ways determine the position of Belarusian Potash Company on the Indian market.

“We are glad about the new contract with our Indian partners and believe that it will contribute to maintaining stability on the Indian market which is a strategic sales market for our company,” Director General of Belarusian Potash Company Valery Ivanov noted. In his words, the contract meets the interests of producers, importers and consumers of the products, i.e. Indian farmers who make a considerable contribution to the global agricultural development.

Valery Ivanov expressed confidence that the contract will have a positive impact on the domestic and global potassium market in the near term.

Belarusian Potash Company is an exclusive supplier of potash fertilizers made by Belaruskali (Soligorsk, Belarus) and Uralkali (Perm Krai, Russia) and the world's leading exporter of these products. Belarusian Potash Company was set up in 2005. The shareholders are Belaruskali (45%), Uralkali (50%) and Belarusian Railways (5%). The share of Belarusian Potash Company in the global export of potash fertilizers is 43%. BPC exports potash fertilizers to Europe, China, India, Central and South America, the United States, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.
